A new year means new model year vehicles from GMC! The Dan Tobin Chevrolet Buick GMC dealership has a large inventory of GMC’s most talked about new vehicles: the GMC Acadia and GMC Sierra HDs.  Considering a mid-sized SUV?  Or maybe you’re looking at trucks and might be interested in the new GMC trucks for sale? Don’t make your decision until you check out these exciting updates to GMC’s most cherished models.

2017 GMC Acadia Highlights

In 2017, GMC decided to do what most car companies would be fear: they totally rebranded their brand’s most beloved (and best-selling) vehicle. Luckily, the gamble paid off and GMC is confident that the redesign of their 2017 Acadia midsize SUV will only add fuel to the fire. Car enthusiasts got a sneak peak at the redesigned 2017 Acadia at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Here are some of the highlights:

·        Smaller. A scaled-down version of the previous Acadia model years, 2017’s model is a full 700lbs lighter.

·        Engine Choices. Offered in a fuel-efficient four-cylinder or traditional V6 engines.

·       New Design. Features a stylish and refined new look and operational design that GMC claims was based on years of customer input.

·       Improved Handling. The new model also features an increased turning radius; making it much more maneuverable.

·       Fuel Efficiency! The 2017 Acadia features a +3mph gain in fuel efficiency over previous models.

2017 GMC Sierra HD Highlights

Sharing a chassis (and a few features) with the Chevy Silverado HD, the 2017 GMC Sierra HD can now add the Duramax diesel engine to its list of features. Starting at around $59,000 new, here’s what the 2017 model has to offer:

·       Duramax Diesel Engine. Featuring a 360HP 6.0 liter V-8 engine with a hood scoop which contributes to diesel power production (and looks cool).

·       2500 and 3500 models. Available in a 6.6-liter V8 turbodiesel with 445 HP.

·       2WD and 4WD. The 2017 model still offers both drive options.

Three Things to Consider When Buying a Used Truck

At the Dan Tobin Buick, GMC and Chevy dealership, we work with our customers to find the best new, pre-owned and used trucks for sale in Columbus Ohio. Before buying any vehicle, it is important for all buyers to become crystal clear about why they actually need the vehicle. That research, combined with our tips below, will help you to make the best consumer decision possible.

#1 Use Mileage for Great Deals.
According to Consumer Reports, a modern truck engine can last until well over the 200,000 mile mark (and diesel engines have been known to last longer). With this in mind, used truck buyers should consider broadening their mileage limits for a used vehicle (and looking for a great deal in the process). A reliable truck model and year with a great track record is the perfect candidate for this.

#2 Don’t Overbuy!
Trucks can be like toys: tons of great features, upgrades, and shiny objects. Unlike toys, these fun features on trucks can add up to big increases in cost. Really take the time to consider what you need the truck for and stick with the features that meet that need. For example, do you really need an extended truck-bed for those simple home-depot runs? Does that luxury feature really make sense for a vehicle that will primarily be used for dirty work?

#3 Power vs Fuel Economy.
When it comes to trucks, unfortunately there is no middle ground when it comes to power and fuel economy: consumers must sacrifice one to maximize the other. While improvements in V6 and V8 technology are addressing this problem, shoppers in the market today must decide which feature matters most. As a general rule, for everyday general use and city-driving it’s best to choose fuel efficiency over hauling power.

2017 Highlights: Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The Silverado, America’s 2nd best-selling domestic full-sized pickup truck, continues to deliver a punch when it comes to hauling, towing, and carrying power. With safety features that rival the F-150 and three powerful engine options, the 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 is definitely a strong competitor in the pickup truck arms race. The Dan Tobin Chevrolet Buick GMC dealership has a fresh stock of the new 2017 Chevy Silverado for sale in many styles.  If you like the power of a traditional pickup, but also love vast configuration options (from technology to comfort) and want a conservative exterior, then check out the highlights from this year’s Silverado.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Highlights

While the 2017 Silverado doesn’t offer much in the way of ground-breaking new innovations, it does offer something that most truck buyers will appreciate: a host of new technology that now comes standard in many Silverado option packages. Additionally, Chevy has given the Silverado a little vanity updating (with sleek new LED running lights and masculine frontal face redesign) to give the vehicle more of a traditional truck look with modern touches. Other 2017 highlights include:

·         New Colors. The 2017 model sees updated paint colors and new interior color options of Jet Black and Medium Ash.

·         Standard Rearview Camera. A new addition to standard LT models.

·         Introducing Android Auto. In addition to Apple CarPlay, Android users may now take advantage of this new phone integration technology.

·         Teen Driver Mode. Monitor the driving behavior of other drivers with this new standard software feature.

·         Enhanced Driver Alert Package. A full-featured software upgrade in the High Country package that includes lane assist, automatic emergency braking, collision alert, automatic high-beams, and vibrating crash alert system.

·         Increased Towing Capacity: Slight increase in towing capacity of +500lbs up from 12,000lbs to 12,500lbs.

Top 5 Things Shoppers Might Overlook When Buying a Used SUV

SUVs are feature-heavy, highly practical vehicles for a variety of lifestyles. Used SUVs are one of our specialties at Dan Tobin Chevrolet Buick GMC dealership.  One SUV you may want to consider is the Chevy Equinox for sale at Dan Tobin.

While there are many things to consider when looking for a used SUV for sale, here are our top five considerations that most buyers overlook.

#1 Model Year Reliability and Reviews.
Each vehicle model year, regardless of how similar or different it is from a previous model year, has its own unique blend of strength and weaknesses. Be sure to research the specific model year of the SUV you’re interested in for any known weak points, typical repairs, and potential defects. Since you are purchasing a used/older vehicle, you don’t want to be exposed to these weaknesses beyond the extended warranty.

#2 Consider a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle
Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are used cars that have passed a strict set of resale guidelines (maximum mileage, maintenance history, accident history, etc.) set by the carmaker; offering peace of mind to a prospective used car buyer. Although these vehicles cost a bit more for the added assurance, Certified Pre-Owned vehicles also come with extended warranties from the car manufacturer—a nice added benefit.

#3 Future Usability of Technology.
Many SUVs (particularly luxury SUVs) come with many great technology features; however, after several years, these features may become deprecated (i.e. outdated navigation technology) or simply outdated. Review the technology features to see if they are worth the additional cost.

#4 Future Size and Capacity Needs.
With so many SUV options (subcompacts, compact sport, mid-sized, and full-sized SUVs), be sure to find an SUV that meets your present and future capacity needs.

#5 Fuel Economy.
Fuel efficiency has improved over the years, so significantly older model years of SUVs may not be as economical as modern vehicles.
